NOTWNiche of the Week

How it works

Rules

NOTW is a weekly community chart for underground house music. “Niche” means underground sound, not a play-count limit. House only. Subgenres are filters within one chart, not separate competitions.

The weekly schedule (Irish time, Europe/Dublin)

  • A new round opens every Monday at 00:00.
  • Submissions close Friday at 23:59.
  • Voting closes Sunday at 23:59. The top track is crowned Niche of the Week.
  • The first round runs from launch until Sunday 1 November 2026 at 23:59.

Times follow Irish clock changes automatically.

Submitting

  • Sign in with Google, then paste an official HTTPS link to a single track on Spotify, SoundCloud, YouTube, YouTube Music, Bandcamp or Apple Music.
  • We may look up the same recording on other services (for example Apple Music and Deezer, by title and artist). Those links appear only after a moderator approves them, and different versions or remixes are never combined.
  • Up to 5 submissions per account per round. If a moderator rejects one, its slot is freed so you can submit another track, up to 3 rejected submissions per round.
  • If the track is already in this round you’ll see the existing entry and can vote for it instead. That doesn’t use your submission.
  • Every submission is reviewed before it appears. Moderators check that the link is an official artist, label or authorised upload. Rejected or removed items get a short reason.
  • A display name is optional. Leave it blank to appear as Anonymous.
  • Past winners can’t be entered again. Other tracks can be submitted again in a later round. Tracks don’t carry over between rounds, but they stay listed under All submissions.

Voting

  • Sign in with Google to vote. Browsing needs no account.
  • Up to 5 votes per account per round, at most 1 per track.
  • You can undo a vote until voting closes. Undoing frees the vote and lowers the count.
  • You can’t vote for your own submission.
  • Vote counts are public and live. The chart is ordered by votes in the current round.
  • Moderators may void votes that look automated or coordinated. Voided votes don’t count and can’t be recast.
  • If a track is hidden or removed, the votes on it are returned to the voters.

Winners and ties

  • When voting closes, the final standings are saved and can’t be changed.
  • If tracks tie for the most votes, they are joint winners. Within a tie they are listed in the order they were approved.
  • A round with no votes has no winner.

Honest limits

Accounts are one per email address. That makes casual repeat voting harder, but it is not proof of one person. We rate-limit voting and submitting and review suspicious patterns, but no online vote is perfect.

Listening

NOTW hosts no audio and embeds no players. “Listen” lists the track’s approved links (“Listen on Spotify” and so on), plus search links for major platforms where we don’t have an exact link yet. Search links show that platform’s results and may not find the exact track. Everything opens in a new tab. If you have the app installed your device may open it there, but that depends on your device. Artwork on NOTW is a generated placeholder.
